I’m MK (Mary Kate) McDonald and I’m a New York based actress, singer, dancer, and creative originally from Boston, Massachusetts (go Sox).

A knack for expression is (and always has been) an inextricable piece of my identity.

At 3, I ignored the lyrics on the screen at karaoke, free-styling over the mic (mostly because I couldn’t read yet). As an elementary schooler, my mom sat me in front of the family computer to watch SNL skits from the 70’s. My “Roseanne Rosannadanna” quickly became one of my greatest hits.

Once I discovered theatre, I had a forever outlet.

I attended a small all-girls’ Catholic school where the drama club performed musicals in our beloved “Gym-Chapel-Torium”.

Volleyball nets dismantled, folding chairs arranged, we’d transport the audience to somewhere new. I loved every second of it.

I studied Music Theatre in college, graduating from Elon University’s BFA program with a minor in Education.

I just got back to the city after a few regional projects and a teaching artist position at Forestburgh Playhouse. Nowadays, I am auditioning and even writing some new work of my own.

A special skill not listed on my resume is making tomato soup from scratch accompanied by the world’s best grilled cheese. When not onstage, I can be found on a run, crafting, reading, and enjoying quality time with my three-year old cat, Phoebe.
